Gourmet Braai Broodjies

  • Butter
  • 1 loaf of sourdough bread, sliced
  • Basil pesto
  • Olive tapenade
  • 4 ripe tomatoes, sliced
  • 2 red onions, thinly sliced
  • 300g Food Lover’s cheddar cheese, grated


  1. Prepare the braai broodjies by spreading butter on one side of sourdough slices.
  2. On the other side, spread the pesto and tapenade.
  3. Top with sliced tomatoes, red onion and cheddar cheese.
  4. Pop another piece of sourdough bread on top to create a broodjie.
  5. Grill over the hot coals until bread is toasted and cheese is melted
  6. Serve cut into quarters.
